About the José Juan Vilar Martínez Excellence in Periodontal Research Grant
The SEPA Foundation’s José Juan Vilar Martínez Grant is a competitive research mobility grant designed to support researchers through stays of at least three months at institutions other than their home research center. These research stays must be related to scientific research in a broad sense, although direct impact on the applicant’s primary research project is not required. The grant is valid for both training-related and research-focused stays.
Objective
To expand knowledge and strengthen the applicant’s research competencies.
Funding
This SEPA Foundation grant offers financial support of up to €15,000, which may cover expenses related to the stay and research activities.
Eligibility
Applicants must be members of the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration (SEPA), in any of the following categories: Full Member, Specialist Member, Junior Member, or International Member. Applicants must be engaged in clinical or preclinical research in periodontology and/or dental implants. The research may be part of a doctoral thesis.
Eligible Host Institutions
Applicants may carry out their stay at higher education or research institutions (public or private, national or international) related to their scientific field.
Applicants are responsible for contacting the destination center and securing acceptance from the host institution through a formal invitation letter. However, if assistance is needed from SEPA to facilitate contact, applicants must email sepa@sepa.es during the application period, attaching their candidacy materials. Nonetheless, the applicant remains solely responsible for obtaining official acceptance.

Application Period: From January 20 to April 30, inclusive.

Eligible Dates for the Stay
Grant recipients may carry out research stays from December 15, 2025 to May 31, 2028. Stays taking place between January 15 and September 30, 2025, must be included and justified in the application.
